Asian Horror Movie Collection

Asian horror movies are horror movies made in East Asian countries, most notably Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, although quality horror is also emerging from Thailand, The Phillipines, Singapore and Malaysia. A large chunk of Asian horror movies are split between J-Horror from Japan and K-Horror from Korea.

J-Horror refers to Japanese horror fiction and tends to focus on psychological terror rather than the blood and gore of Western horror, I say tends as Japan has also brought us some of the most extreme and intense horror with lashings of the red-stuff! Many J-Horror's focus on folk-lore and tell stories involving the supernatural such as ghosts, the spirit world, premonitions and possession.

K-Horror or Korean Horror emerged due to the success of Japanese Horror and follows the same patterns although set in Korea and focussing on the folk-lore and traditions of the Korean society. K-Horror can be a bit darker than its Japanese counterpart.

East Asian Cinema is the term used to encompass all East Asian Horror, from the larger industries of J-Horror and K-Horror and China to the up an coming horror industries in the other areas of the continent.
